LATINX AND THE ENVIRONMENT SEMINAR

Lab manager Johannah Moynihan and second-year Ph.D. student Hana Qureshi represented the KIND Lab at the Latinx and the Environment Undergraduate Seminar. They had the opportunity to share their research on climate emotions with the group. The seminar aims to discuss environmental research and activism on issues that impact Latinx communities.

Parent and Child Mental Health Workshop Series

The KIND Lab joined together for the annual Parent and Child Workshop Series. This series, led by Dr. Michalska, exposed lab participants to various workshops, including a sound bath, art therapy, and Ballet Folklorico lesson. There, the workshops provided a safe space for our families to learn more about mental health and how to support it.

Public Speaking Workshop

Latina Empowerment Conference

KIND Lab members joined the “Speaking Up: Advocating for yourself and your child” workshop, which was open to participating families and their kids to attend. This workshop, which was led by Dr. Michalska and public speaking expert Dr. Speer, provided a supportive discussion space for parents and their children to build on public speaking skills and seek advice on how to advocate for themselves.

KIND Lab members represented the lab at the Latina Empowerment Day at San Bernardino and extended an invitation to our participant families as well. They were able to learn and grow through this event, and we look forward to attending more community events in the future. We hope to improve ourselves as individuals and researchers that better understand our community and its needs.
